By Zailary Chávez for El Siglo - Faced with worry on the part of representatives of the tourism sector of Panama, as a result of the measure implemented by the Ministry of Health to demand a vaccination certificate for Yellow Fever from travelers who wish to enter or leave the country, authorities from the MINSA clarified that this is a preventative measure. According to the Ministry of Health, this action looks to bring Panama into compliance with requirements established in the International Sanitary Regulation 2005 (RSI), to avoid the propagation of epidemics and to improve cooperation between countries with the same objective. Gladys Guerrero, the Chief of the Epidemiology Department of the MINSA, said there have been no confirmed cases of Yellow Fever in Panama since 1974 and that also there are no suspected cases either. Recently Health Minister Rosario Turner said that Panama asked the World Health Organization to remove Panama from the list of countries at risk of Yellow Fever transmission because the country has not had any registered cases since the 70's.
