Jose Pío Castillero, who is in charge of the case, confirmed the suspension of Gomez and said that he will remain on suspension while the investigation is carried out. Editor's Comment: Last week on Thursday a group of protesters marched to the Presidency and ended up in scuffle with the SPI officers responsible for security in the area. The protesters were family members and survivors of the poisoned medicines who were asking for recognition by the government. The SPI officers roughly grabbed the protesters and removed them from the area, and some were sprayed with pepper spray. The entire event was caught by television cameras and government officials have been apologizing ever since. The guy in charge on the ground was SPI director Jose Gomez who has been suspended from his position pending an investigation.
