Translated from http://www.critica.com.pa - Engineers and architects in 1961 made public an explanation of plans for the construction of a bridge over the Panama Canal that connects the capital with the interior of the country, apart from the use of ferries. The bridge, known formally as the Thatcher Ferry Bridge, it would be known nationally and internationally as the Bridge of the Americas, and open to the public on October 12, 1962.
